Dr. Govind Nandakumar serves as the Chief of Gastrointestinal Surgery at Columbia Asia Hospital, Whitefield in Bangalore. He obtained his MD degree from the prestigious Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York in 2004. Following this, he further specialized in General Surgery at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, completing his training in June 2009. Dr. Govind Nandakumar then pursued a Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Washington University, where he gained advanced knowledge in the management of Upper Gastrointestinal and Hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) Oncology.
Dr. Govind Nandakumar has also received specialized training in various modalities of Gastrointestinal surgery, including Robotic Surgery and HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy) treatment for abdominal cancers. After spending some time practicing in the United States, Dr. Govind has returned to India and joined the team at Columbia Asia Hospitals. The establishment of the “Integrated Digestive and Liver Care Program” is a testament to his clinical expertise and the shared vision between him and the hospital.
